# Standards for Employment Documentation

The underwriter must verify employment income for all borrowers whose income is being used to validate the borrower’s ability to meet the income requirements for the mortgage loan. This verification can be provided by the borrower, by the borrower’s employer, or by a third-party employment verification vendor. Generally, one piece of documentation is all that is required.
